Hello community! Here @sarouxbastoux for a new f Hello community!

Here @sarouxbastoux for a new feature.  Today I present to you a photo of @tomekskog

What I like in this photo is the atmosphere.  The dynamics of the figurine, the angle of view, the choice of warm colors, the bokeh in the background and the natural details in the foreground.  This combination of elements makes it an immediately attractive photo that tells a story all by itself.

I also liked the contrast that emerges from this photo between the head of the robot and the clothing rather taken from a western which gives in the end a superb combination of colors. I really like this combination of old and futuristic

Tomek says it was the choice of the head that determined his work : " The look of this photo is determined by the robot's head, which is translucent. I wanted to use this feature somehow, hence the idea to use backlighting. And since none of the studio takes were satisfying, I chose the good old sunshine.

Thank you for this shot! And keep it up

Hello community! Here @sarouxbastoux for a new f Hello community!

Here @sarouxbastoux for a new feature.  Today I present to you a photo of @laurimaijala.

I was immediately attracted by this composition, bright and colorful. A composition that I find warm.

I like very much this choice of position for the 2 minifigs and this angle of shooting to give this effect of movement.
The whole gives a dynamic photo. We understand immediately that these 2 characters are going on an adventure. Effect accentuated by the position of the glances also turned to the right, towards the imaginary horizon, towards their next story.

Thank you for sharing this story with us and we can't wait to see what happens next.

If you want to be featured, don't forget to mention #brickcentral in your photos.

Hello, community! It’s @y.badiner with one more Hello, community!
It’s @y.badiner with one more photography tip.

Today’s tip is about outlining with light - a touch of light that creates a subtle luminous outline of the object being photographed.

Literally it’s shooting with backlight, using a blocking flag between the subject and the light source. This is a very interesting technique in photography that allows you to make conceptual images in which the light literally touches the edges of the object, drawing a glowing outline against a dark background.

I will use two flags made of thick black paper. In one of them I cut out a small window through which I will shoot, and the second I will put between the minifigure and the light source. For convenience, hereinafter I will refer to them as follows: Background Flag (small) and Front Windowed Flag (large).

The layout looks like this: Right in front of the camera, I put a front windowed flag and a little further I put a minifigure. The flag completely blocks the light on the periphery of the frame, and through the window I can see the minifigure. Right in front of the light source, I put a small background flag, which actually prevents the light from entering the hole and is the backdrop for the minifigure. It is important to place all items on the same line.

The result is highly dependent on the size of the background flag and the distance between it and the light source. It took me quite some time to find the best flag placement and get the minifigure's light outlined properly. Of course, you can shoot with a background flag only and then cut out the figure on a black background, but I think it's much more interesting to do the maximum work in the process of shooting and the minimum in the photo editor.

I want to say that I did not get my final frame right away. Experiment with the arrangement of flags on your table and with the brightness of the light and everything will definitely work out. Feel free to read the entire blog post for more details. I hope you learned something new and interesting today. Thank you!

Hello! It's @the_aphol here and it's time to direc Hello!
It's @the_aphol here and it's time to direct the spotlight toward one of the most experienced community member, our old friend @foolishbricks!

"Hi! @Foolishbricks here and I am a self-taught Lego comic creator who occasionally creates Lego photos.

Over the years, I learned techniques and gained insights into visual storytelling. I met friends, especially within this community, who helped me realize and establish my core interest and style in Lego photography.

I want to learn everything about storytelling, visual tricks and techniques to trigger emotions in people. I always build all my scenes around some kind of story.

I used to place a scene anywhere that looked interesting, hoping my lighting would work, and then I’d try to correct everything with PS. These days I almost exclusively shoot in my basement-studio, in all Lego-environments. I completely control the environment and light. I try to get everything right in-camera. That camera is a Pentax DSLR, combined with an assortment of lenses, mostly macro.

I only have one enemy to my artistic aspirations; and that is time. Because of my extremely busy day job, I often can’t find the time to create. That’s why I only publish incidentally, followed by long periods of weeks or months where I’m not able to shoot photos. I need to relax to find inspiration…And to relax, I need time.

I know my photos are not for the masses. Yet, I hope some of you find at elements they like in my photos. If you are interested you can primarily find my work on my website: foolishbricks.com where I, amongst other things, post weekly episodes of my comic. Occasionally, I post on Instagram (for now) and sporadically on Flickr.
Happy creating everyone!"

Thank you @foolishbricks for accepting our invitation and let the community knows you better!
